Blue Violet is a trailing plant which has thick and scaly underground stem. The leaves are heart-shaped and dark green in colour. The flowers are deep purple or blue to pinkish or even yellow whitish in colour and have 5 petals.

Blue Violet has anti-inflammatory, diaphoretic, diuretic and emollient properties. The plant is used to cure chronic skin disorders and is used to treat mouth and throat infections too. It is used in the treatment of bronchitis, respiratory catarrh, coughs and asthma.
